This was the first of CBN’s series of three exclusive round table discussions. This addressed the critical demand for water in South Africa which is expected to rise by 17.7 billion m³ in 2030 representing a 17% gap between water supply and demand.
Without water security we cannot rebuild the South African economy.
Meeting this demand can be achieved if water users work together to implement strategies to include a successful roll out plan that includes the private sector taking ownership, the success of the Western Capes water crises was exactly this – the Private Sector taking ownership – it is time to say what can I do as a Company or Individual to ensure our water supply is sustainable and that there are many solutions available that do not have to be passed by a tedious red tape road blocks – Architects Engineers Property Developers, Agriculture Sector, Government and Municipalities all have their parts to play in making this a reality buy taking ownership
